I know a lot about kids and parents. I doubt that I could properly change a diaper anymore, but I’d slap it on one way or the other. I guess all you need to know about me is that I worked in children’s services for thirty years.  I started as a counselor for serious delinquent offenders and ended up in a management position in a service district in Florida overseeing all manner of programs for kids. Those programs included child abuse and neglect investigations, services to dependent children, including protective services, foster care and adoptions, delinquency services, including intake, probation, parole, detention and commitment facilities, and finally, subsidized child care, and spouse abuse.

I consider myself a story-teller. I’ve written and self published a few books drawing on my experiences. Since kids in trouble tends to be a depressing subject at times, I write my stories with humor, murder, mystery, cops and the good guys who work with kids. If you have read a few of my posts, you will see what I mean. I think the men and women who work our streets, trying to help parents, while carefully watching over vulnerable children are unsung heroes. I like to think that I telling their story.

Finally, I can’t help but comment on other things that happen around me. Goodness knows there is a great deal out there to fire up the old workhorse and get him to plow some more ground. I sincerely hope you like what you see.
